First brewed by William McEwan in Edinburgh in 1856, McEwan’s Scotch Ale has become one of Scotland’s most beloved beers. Proudly bearing its Highland roots, McEwan’s Scotch Ale (fondly known as “Red Top” by its fans) is a gem of traditional Scottish brewing heritage. This wee heavy is a dark mahogany color with a thick beige head and sweet aromas of caramel, toffee, malt bread and dried fruit. Scotch Ale is a warming beer with a very mild coffee flavor and notes of raisins and brown sugar in the finish. This is a smooth, intensely satisfying and full-bodied beer. Drink with pleasure.
